WELCOME MESSAGE

The problems of both climate change and future energy supplies are immediate concerns for the world.  The following is a summary of research in Australia that is underway to advance the RENEWABLE energy forum. We are focusing on Biofuels and Molecular Catalysts that can be used to store energy in the form of a chemical bond. These are the technologies for tomorrow.

The basis of this research comes from our backgrounds in bioenergetics, chemistry and photosynthesis.  Our research targets implementation of bio-mimetic catalysts to perform chemical (electrolytic) reactions of water to generate renewable fuels: pure hydrogen and oxygen.  These fuels can then be burned electrochemically to release stored energy again via a non-polluting and entirely renewable means.

Further reaching endeavors include mechanisms for artificial photosynthesis.  Since earth intercepts a vast amount of solar radiation (~4 x 108 TJ of energy/hr) the sun provides the only renewable energy input into earth and offers a vast potential for future energy solutions.

These fuels can be generated catalytically from any electrical supply and the fuels captured. The approach utilizes any energy source, but is targeted for CO2 neutral solar PV or wind turbines.
