New endeavours in Plant Molecular and Developmental Biology, Biotechnology & Bioinformatics

Presented by Dr. Nijat Imin, Dr. Michael Djordjevic & Dr Georg Weiller
Genomic Interactions Group

Our research spans five major areas of interest:

  1. The discovery of signal molecules that control the activity of plant stems cells
  2. The underlying mechanisms that control stem cell initiation and differentiation in roots and model systems
  3. Exploring plants as sources of bioenergy
  4. The mode of action on bioactive plant-derived molecules in mammals
  5. The development of novel bioinformatics approaches for the analysis of gene expression and the characterisation of non-coding RNAs, with a view of supporting and enhancing aspects of projects 1 and 2.

Participants will be given an exposure to these projects and the technologies that underpin them.
