ANU PhD Scholarship

A number of ANU PhD Scholarships which provide a stipend are funded by Colleges. It is normal for recipients to undertake study on a full-time basis. However, in accordance with strict criteria, the scholarship may be awarded for part-time study. International scholars must undertake study on a full-time basis.

Stipend: A$20,007 (2008 rate) per annum tax free, in fortnightly payments
Other Benefits: Travel to Canberra; reimbursement of some removal expenses; thesis reimbursement allowance

Maximum Duration: Three years full-time, with a possible six month extension
Take Up By: It is expected that the scholarship normally will be taken up by 31 March in the year for which it is awarded, although, subject to the approval of the prospective supervisor, Head of Department and Dean/Director, a later start date may be possible. The date by which a scholarship must be taken up in a particular instance will be made clear in the formal letter of offer for the scholarship.

Eligible Program(s): PhD, Professional Doctorate by Research

Eligibility Criteria: Bachelors degree with at least upper second-class honours, or a Masters degree with a research component or equivalent; Australian and New Zealand citizens; Permanent residents of Australia; International Students

Applications Close: Applications for Australian/New Zealand citizens and permanent residents of Australia are normally due by 31 October. However, Colleges may consider applications at any other time of the year.
