Opportunities for Domestic Applicants in 2008
Domestic Applicants are students who
are Australian & NZ Citizens and Australian Permanent
Residents.
The Research School of Biological Sciences
is committed to provide scholarship support
for all intending domestic PhD students, subject only
to the necessary requirements – that the student’s
record meets the University’s
admission requirements for Higher Degree Research
enrolment, that the student’s qualification is
in a relevant discipline and the support and availability
of a supervisor. This ANU PhD Scholarship will be at
the rate of an Australian Postgraduate Award $20,007
(2008).
In the first instance all domestic scholarship
applicants should apply for the Australian Postgraduate
Award (APA) by selecting this scholarship on the online
form. The APA is a prestigious scholarship funded by
the Australian Government. These scholarships are limited
and are awarded to outstanding applicants in a competitive
process. RSBS also funds a number of ANU PhD scholarships
for domestic students, and applicants should also select
this option on the online form. Other relevant scholarships
offered by RSBS Centres listed below can be listed in
the ‘Other Scholarships’ section of the
online application form.
External scholarships, such as Industry-funded,
Australian Research Council, CRCs and scholarships
from research and development councils (eg RIRDC,
GRDC, Horticulture Australia) should also be considered.
Your supervisor may also suggest additional external
funding avenues to be explored.
Competition for Scholarships is such
that Masters Applicants are often excluded; however
there is opportunity for independently funded students
to undertake Masters Study within the School.
