Scholarships
for Honours Students
Both the ANU and RSBS offer merit based Honours scholarships,
students are encouraged to apply for both of these
scholarships.
ANU Honours Scholarship
The ANU offers 15 honours scholarships to students
across all disciplines each year. The Scholarship
is valued at $5000. Applications for the ANU Scholarship
are via an online form, open from 1 August each year.

RSBS Honours Scholarship
RSBS offers a number of scholarships for suitably
qualified students wishing to undertake their fourth
year (Honours) in the biological or medical sciences
field within the Research School of Biological Sciences.
A selection of exciting research projects is available
for Honours study in 2008.
Scholarships are for one year and are valued at $6,000.
In addition scholars transferring from a university
outside the ACT region are eligible for a travel and
relocation allowance of up to $4,000 (reimbursed upon
the production of approved receipts).
Applicants should be completing, or have recently
completed, the third year of a relevant Bachelors
degree course or equivalent with majors in appropriate
medical or biological science areas, and have a strong
academic record.
Students must be undertaking an Honours
project within RSBS, and have a supervisor from within
the School to be eligible for the RSBS Honours Scholarship.
Applications have officially closed however late applications may be considered on a case-by case basis. Applications must be complete with referee
reports when you submit. An online RSBS
scholarship application form is now available. To
complete your application you will need to nominate
two academic referees to comment on your academic performance
using the referee
report form which is to be returned to RSBS.
ARC Centre of Excellence in Vision
Science Scholarship
The ANU node of the Centre is offering
scholarships to honours students. The stipend will be
$6,000 plus up to $4,000 relocation allowance for students
relocating from other states.
Eligibility
• The student must be enrolled in an honours program
at ANU
• The student must be supervised by one of a Centre’s
Chief Investigators
• The student must be working on a Centre related
research project
• The student must not be a recipient of any other
honours scholarship
Application Procedure
Students are encouraged to discuss research opportunities
with the relevant Chief Investigator at the Centre.
All applications for honours scholarships
should be submitted to the Chief Operations Officer
of the Centre through the proposed supervisor (a Chief
Investigator in the Centre). The application should
contain:
• A recent C.V.
• 200 words research proposal
• Copies of transcripts
• Two referee reports
Students are encouraged to submit their applications
as soon as possible but not later than 30 November for
semester 1 start in the following year. Details of research
projects and contact information of Chief Investigators
in the Centre can be found on the Centre
website.
Summer Research Scholarships
RSBS participates in the ANU Summer Research Scholarship
program. Summer Research Scholarships are designed
for talented students considering undertaking postgraduate
research in the future. They are an excellent opportunity
to work with distinguished researchers, utilising
facilities and materials not readily available elsewhere.
Students typically participate in the program prior
to undertaking their Honours year, however it is also
possible to participate upon completion of the Honours
program.
