Professor
Jennifer Graves has this month been awarded one of five
prestigious international awards worth US$100,000. Professor
Graves received a 2006 L'Oréal-UNESCO for Women
in Science award on March 2 in Paris for her studies on
the evolution of mammalian genomes. As the Asia-Pacific
Laureate of the prestigious award, Professor Graves has
been further confirmed as a role model for women in science.
The international jury which decided the laureates for
2006 included a group of 15 prominent life scientists,
led by Gunter Blobel, who received the Nobel Prize in Medicine
